Good to see one good guy win
I'm as cynical as anyone, but there are times when it's nice to see certain people win. This is the way it is for Roy Williams, who is everything you'd want a coach to be. He's competitive, works hard and … Continue reading

Just give 'em the trophy
This analysis is interesting, but pointless. North Carolina will win the NCAA Tournament.
Analyzing tonight's Akron-Gonzaga game
Gonzaga coach Mark Few paid the Akron Zips the highest compliment when he said: "'I don't think, in 20 years of watching game tape, I have seen a team that plays that hard." This could be the proverbial blow-smoke-up-the-other-team's-butt pregame … Continue reading

The Zips get a 13 seed
The first time I met Mack Rhoades, he mused about whether the Akron Zips could become the Gonzaga of the Midwest. A small school that consistently builds a winning basketball team, that reaches the NCAA Tournament and wins some games … Continue reading
The Zips make the tournament, now where will they go?
This is a challenging day. I must try to figure where the Akron Zips might play in the NCAA tournament while trying to get over the shock that the parish where I grew up – St. James in Lakewood – … Continue reading
