Some Josh Cribbs thoughts

January 7, 2010

Josh Cribbs should be paid.
How much he should be paid, I don't know. He's a very valuable and talented player. If anyone deserves a re-worked deal it's him. There's no problem with him asking.
And … if the Browns really said their latest offer is their final offer (as claimed by the Cribbs camp) … well I [...]

Josh Cribbs and his agents go public

January 6, 2010

Josh Cribbs and his agent have gone public, with the agent saying Cribbs is going to clean out his locker and Cribbs going on Twitter to "tweet" (shoot me for writing that) he might not be back with the Browns.
Cribbs wants a new contract. He deserves a new contract. He's mad he hasn't gotten a [...]

Browns ran their way to four wins in a row …

January 3, 2010

The axiom is as old as football: Teams that run the ball and stop the run win.
The Browns proved that the final month in beating Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Oakland and Jacksonville.
In winning the final four games, the Browns outrushed their final four opponents 900-464.
That means the Browns averaged 225 yards rushing per game.
Which is pretty [...]

First and 10: Quinn goes to IR, Holmgren signs on as president

December 22, 2009

1)      Only the Browns could follow the news of Mike Holmgren being hired with the news that Brady Quinn is out for the season with a left foot injury. Eric Mangini apparently was vague about the specifics (I know that's surprising), but foot injuries always conjure the dreaded Lis Franc to mind, especially when Mangini says [...]

Appeals, appeals

November 20, 2009

Well, Ireland's appeal was denied. Wrongfully, I might add. FIFA is a bunch of FOOFAs who don't know POOPa about sportsmanship and proper play. So Ireland suffers.
This other appeal, though, should be heard.
I really see no reason why Baltimore's Dwan Edwards should be fined for hitting Josh Cribbs while he was running downfield to try [...]

It's OK for someone else to get hurt though

November 19, 2009

Josh Cribbs' agent said he was furious that the Browns had Cribbs in the game for the last play against Baltimore.
How's that again?
Cribbs is a football player, and he plays when there are plays called for him.
Besides, if Cribbs is not on the field someone else has to take his place (the Browns only put [...]

The hook-and-lateral that wasn't … or was it?

November 19, 2009

Well  … the players are saying that the Browns coaches did not call the last play in the loss to Baltimore the other night. The one that sent Josh Cribbs to the hospital. They said the call came on the field, with Brady Quinn and Cribbs creating something on the fly.
Always good to know that [...]

Some comments on the Cribbs injury and Quinn's hit on Suggs

November 17, 2009

From the Ravens, as reported by the AP (tho many were present in the locker room when the statements were made):
Ray Lewis on whether Quinn's hit on Terrell Suggs was a cheap shot: "Heck yeah, it was a cheap shot When you're running down and you're looking at the quarterback going at somebody's knees who [...]

Cribbs hurt on last play of Browns loss; Quinn's cheap shot sidelines Suggs

November 17, 2009

The Browns looked woeful again in losing to Baltimore. Still think the coach deserves another year?
But … the game ended bizarrely, with Josh Cribbs on the ground after having been run into by Dwan Edwards on one of those goofy lateral plays.
This hit did not appear intentional. Edwards was running to get into the play [...]

Interesting take by Josh Cribbs

October 7, 2009

Josh Cribbs, when asked what he'd say to those who say Braylon Edwards was bad for the team: “I disagree. He’s a threat and that’s why teams double covered him every game. That is why teams account for him on the football field. If he wasn’t a good player they wouldn’t put a safety over [...]

Josh Cribbs and the Browns

Josh Cribbs and his agent are still making noise about his contract.

The Browns are overrun in Tennessee

December 7, 2008

I was all set to write in tomorrow's Beacon Journal that the Browns lost to Tennesese because they only gave Josh Cribbs the ball seven times at quarterback.
Then I saw the stats. Set aside Cribbs' six runs, and the Browns ran 13 times for 11 yards. The Titans ran for 235 yards. Pitiful. Just pitiful. [...]

First and 10: Why not Cribbs at QB?

December 2, 2008

First and 10
1)      Derek Anderson asked if we were on crack when someone suggested to him that Josh Cribbs play quarterback for the Browns this Sunday in Tennessee. Ahem. For the record, crack has never once been the drug of choice on my kitchen table. And to be quite frank, anyone who followed Kent State [...]

Browns win, but boy was that ugly …

September 28, 2008

At one point during the Browns oh-so-exciting win over the Bengals, an e-mailer sent a colleague a note in the press box that watching that game was like "watching a cactus grow."
Boy was it.
The Browns did not play well in their win, but they won, and that's what they needed. Boy did they. Because a [...]

Browns make a trade, and now Jamal Lewis is hurt too

August 20, 2008

The acquisition of Travis Daniels via trade kind of shows where the Browns secondary resides at the moment. Daniels does not seem to be the kind of guy who will be a major contributor, but he's probably all that was realistically available at the moment. The trade for Daniels indicates the secondary's struggles are real, [...]
