Patrick McManamon recently was named the lead sports columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal and Ohio.com.
He had been the beat reporter on the Browns since their return in 1999 with a short stint working for the Browns Web site in the middle of that time with the Beacon Journal.
He also has been a beat reporter on the Miami Dolphins.
Pat is planning on writing on any topic in sports 3 to 5 time per week with his thoughts on the Browns appearing on this blog and the Browns blog.
Enjoy and let us know your thoughts.
Pat, you do a great job and I think of you as extended family. So don't take this question badly, because it's not about you — it's about the ABJ:
Doesn't it bother you that Ohio.com, the ABJ's website, now includes a column consisting solely of links to Browns stories appearing mostly on Cleveland.com. It's a little disconcerting to see Terry Pluto's stuff being promoted on Ohio.com, since he left the paper more than a year ago to go to the PD (i.e., Cleveland.com).
This has to be embarrassing, right?
Pat,
Can I get your e-mail address to share a story you may wish to pursue?

Good riddance 17.
Thanks

Do you still believe that this team was doing better last year under the worst head coach ever, like you stated on all bets are off. If you do, you shouldn't be a sports writer. Even at 1-11 this year, anybody that knows anything about football couldn't have made a statement like that. Under that so-called head coach, there was false start after false start, players running around in practice with their shoes off, coaches who couldn't get the plays in on time, and when they did get the plays in, the players had no idea where to line up. Now thats real discipline, isn't it. So get off the 10 hour bus ride the rookies had to go on,(that was pretty stupid to get on Mangini about) I mean seriously, were you afraid that the rookies were going to get a sore butt, or the "long practices" that Mangini subjected the poor babies to. But hey, the Browns were better under the person that said, "we are going to try to win a game, and thats all we can do", or when he said "when we win everyones happy, and when we lose everyone's sad". Do you still stand behind the comments you made on all bets are off?
Hey Pat
Do any interesting story on these young boys with severe handicaps who play sled hockey
