The NFL Awards parade begins

Two of the NFL awards have been announced, and the individual I selected won both.

Percy Harvin of Minnesota won the Rookie of the Year Award. It was tough to choose between him and Denver’s Knowshown Moreno, but I went with Harvin for his overall value in special teams and on the offense, both running and receiving.

Brian Cushing won the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. This seemed an easy choice given his impact. Dare I mention the Browns could have drafted him.

As the awards are announced I’ll post my choices, including the entire All-Pro team.

I'm a big Jerome Harrison fan, but how this team didn't come out of the last few drafts without either Knowshown, Beanie, Mendenhall or Peterson is way beyond me.

Pat, I don't think the Browns could have had Cushing, because that would have meant not getting Abe Elam and David Veikune, wouldn't it?

Ah-ha. Bet you hadn't thought of that, eh?

Ralph – The numbers say that you're much better off drafting an RB low in the draft vs in the first round. If you look around the league and collect the data on successful RBs most of them are guys who were picked after Rd 1 and even many of those came on Day 2.

As good as Peterson is, if we draft him we don't have one of the best LTs in the league and who knows who's creating room for him to run.

I realize Beanie Wells is revered around here thanks to his OSU ties, but the jury is still very much out on if he can be an effective back in the NFL. Lord knows Arizona doesn't have a running game.
