For your Saturday entertainment …

A special note to T-Bomb – I did finally find the Van Morrison “Caravan” version with The Band in The Last Waltz, but unfortunately Van does not allow his songs to be embedded. The search will continue to put it on this blog. But since I can’t put up Van, I’m including another of my favorite bands and guitarists, another band I believe deserves a spot in the Rock Hall.

I would add that a friend of mine once was covering Wimbledon and he strolled into a pub in London for a pint. Lo and behold, who sat across from him but Mark Knopfler. He bought Knopfler a glass, then Knopfler returned the favor and they chatted for a while. You like a guy who buys the pint back.

I appreciate the effort Pat…love the guitar work of Knopfler but always was a bit irritated with his "Money For Nothin" song wherein he seemed a bit too dismissive regarding the entailments of manual labor. You gotta get Van on here before he croaks!

  2. Eric Mangini says:

    Pat, you suck.

  3. Barry G. says:

    Forget Clapton.

    Knopfler is God.

  4. Blasphemists says:

One of these days God is going to strike down stupid people with lightning when they yap such nonsense.

  5. Barry G. says:

    I was speaking metaphorically.

In fact, there is no God. It's just a fairy tale.

Sorry to break it to you.

  6. Blasphemists says:

Well, there you go. Proving once again that this entire forum is as dumb as Patty Mac. Enjoy hell, sucka!

  7. terje says:

crapton isn't fit to lick knopfler's sweat soaked 80's headband.

  8. Barry G. says:

    There is no hell.

    Unless you've been to Buffalo.

  9. Tbomb says:

Pat's been to Rochester and spoke highly of it.

If it's any consolation, Dire Straits has been selected to play at halftime during the 2040 Super Bowl.

  12. Mike Tomlin says:

Barry, I guess that's why I didn't manage to unleash hell in December…

  13. Stephen Secaur says:

Pat, ignore those stupid Phillistines. Van the Man and Knopfler are truly wonderful and gifted musicians. The morons who post on here don't have any talent, so ignore them.

  14. Stephen Secaur says:

T Bomb, "Money for Nothing" was tongue in cheek. Do you understand irony at all?
And, by the way, anyone who disses Clapton does not understand guitar mastery at all.

  15. terje says:

"money for nothing" has some killer guitar on it. i don't care how jokey it is….cool song. knopler's fingpicking style is sweet.

  16. alan t. says:

I prefer "Industrial Disease." The guy doesn't even try to rock anymore. Adult contemporary. Boooooring.

  17. alan t. says:

Although, I haven't heard his new album "Get Lucky." Maybe there's something on there.

  18. Tbomb says:

Stephen, it'd be ironic if the"workers" wrote the song. I heard Knopfler interviewed about that tune. Believe me he was making fun of all us grunts who don't realize how hard he works.
