So much for Mike Holmgren?

The Tim Ruskell resignation seems to be making things clearer by the minute.

Most NFL folks clearly believe and expect that Mike Holmgren will take over and run the football operation in Seattle. That means he won't be in Cleveland.

Which means the Browns, more than likely, will have to head on to Plan B.

Floyd Reese anyone?

Holmgren mentioned that he was waiting til the end of the season to determine where he wanted to hang his hat.
The only place so far that the season has ended is here in Cleveland.

This does force Lerner to open his wallet to get Holmgren or " The Chin".

With our luck, probably more like Beasley Reese…

The idea of the Browns getting someone with experience and who has actually had talented players on a roster he had been associated with making decisions on, sure seemed like a plan to me. I, as a fan, jumped right on board — and don't believe I was alone. It's still not a bad plan … but it is only a plan of action.

Now it sort of feels like "The Plan" is being engraved in granite and MUST be followed — like Lerner must bring somebody in who conforms to The Plan and forget whether or not he can succeed. Isn't this how the Browns got Mangini?

I'm not now suggesting the Browns don't need to bring in somebody to make the decisions Lerner doesn't seem too be making correctly (by what he says, even to his own business sense) — and experience doesn't sound like a bad thing for that person to have … but I hope the Browns don't hire someone like their a puzzle piece that fits the jigsaw.

    Please get it right!

I just read Ruskell's bio on the Seahawk's site…it is more impressive than anyone we have had here to run the show since Ernie A, While I like Reese, why shouldn't Ruskell be a candidate for us?

Here is a list of Holmgren's accomplishments as VP and General Manager of a team:
