This is blatant thievery and pilfery and robbery …

How does it happen that Ireland gets jobbed in a World Cup playoff and thus does not qualify for South Africa? I'm calling for an international investigation. Too, if the Irish are going to get jobbed, isn't it the British who are supposed to do the jobbing?

I mean … just listen to the comments here about Ireland's getting robbed. You think Josh Cribbs getting hurt is a travesty. What about Thierry Henry's blatant hand ball? I'm telling you, someone needs to call UNESCO or the United Nations or someone. Ireland was "hand balled" right out of South Africa.

Not only that, but Henry, in the post-game interview session, said, "It was a handball, but I'm not the ref". The play is absolutely ridiculous…he CUPPED HIS HAND AND GRABBED THE BALL! That makes Maradona's "Hand of God" look like a the Cleveland Browns: small potatoes.

Where in the heck was the linesman??? He is supposed to be on the endline when the action gets into the box. Ridiculous. I won't be surprised in the least if that ref(s) is dead in less than a year…and I'm being serious.

Wait, did you WANT to talk futbol?

Again, self-grammar police: remove the "a" after "like" and before "the" in the 1st paragraph.

    1) there was an even bigger travesty of justice in the 2002 WC in S Korea…. USA vs. Germany. BLATANT hand ball by Germany prevented a USA goal, and prevented the USA from advancing to the SEMI-FINALS of the entire tournament.

    2) Germany and now France benefiting (two of the giants of international football) benefiting, and USA and now Ireland (two of the ugly stepchilds of international football) getting jobbed…. coincidence????? NOT

    3) it's not Henry's fault here, nor really the game referee..it's the near side linesman who missed it.

    4) please give me the reason why there should not be video replay in soccer????

Since the early 60s, I have had a personal writing policy and an existential mantra: Unless I am writing a letter which begins with the words "Dear Penthouse Forum," I will never put the words "hand balled" and "jobbed" together in the same post.

also should be mentioned that Henry was BLATANTLY offsides on the the same play just prior to the blatant hand ball. Both were calls within the jurisdiction of the same linesman.

Alan, even though you just inadvertently violated your own personal writing policy, I've gotta hand it to you. I believe that's the funniest thing I've ever read on here.

    Thievery is right.

Between the offsides and the handball (which Henry touched TWICE!), it was a brutal, brutal end of game sequence for the Irish. Damn shame.
