No we don't want him!
Yeah, THAT'S what we need. Another Larry Hughes-type selfish gunner who goes 4-for-28 each night and doesn't share the ball. Another egomaniac who never makes his team better, who is NO sort of leader whatsoever, and doesn't like "practice." Or defense. But, of course, he's always there in postgame to get his ugly mug on camera, lose or lose. A.I. has GOT to be the most overrated guard in the last two decades. A loser through and through.
wilbon has lost his marbles.
I love it. If Iverson will defer to anybody, it would be to Shaq and LeBron. On nights he's hot, he could carry the offense for spells and provide LeBron true relief from the scoring burden.
And with ten seconds left in a playoff game and the Cavs down by a point or two, Iverson and LeBron would be scary-scary for the opposing team to defend. Our current point guard wilted in the playoffs last year and the Cavs had no where to turn for a second option.
Let's see….
We want the Indians to be full of good citizens – and they end up tanking. We're all for purging the Browns of Winslow and Edwards – and now there's no one to throw to and we wonder why they suck.
Maybe AI's "the answer" for a championship, but he's a bad guy and apparently will infect the entire city of Cleveland as well as the Cavs, so we certainly don't want him, either.
And on and on in Believeland…
larry and rick, have you even watched iverson in the last few years??
his defense is non-existent, he can't shoot very well, he can't run an offense and he's a non stop crybaby. his own role on this team (or any team) is as a reserve and we've all seen how that plays with him.
Despite the drawbacks I say the Cavs should take a shot on Iverson. What do we have to lose? It is becoming more clear to me (and I'v previously always argued the opposite) that Lebron is leaving Cleveland. The comment that he didn't necessarily need a max contract was the real signal. That being the case, for one season, let's get Iverson. He may not play defense but we only need him to score and most importantly create shots which nobody else on this team seems capable of doing leaving it all to Lebron. I believe AI would love to be on a winner and he would shut his trap long enough to get a championship. If the Bulls could take Rodman and make it work we can take AI and make it work. Take a chance for once, Cavs. The time is now.
WE TALKIN ABOUT PRACTICE!
It won't happen in a zillion years.
With that said, I agree with larry d. What is it with the fans and the media in this town? It's the same thing with every professional sport team short of those Lake Erie Mountain Mooses, or whatever that minor league hockey team is called. Who cares if a guy has big-time skills and talent. It's meaningless and irrelevant. "Oh, he's a diva! Oh, he's a cancer! Oh, he has no character! Oh, keep him away!" But then a felon tippy-toeing and tripping through a backfield and making $6 million on a really, really bad team is seen as a "true professional."
if iverson would come off the bench i'd be happy if he joined the cavs. but we all know that won't happen.
