Eric Mangini said today that he'd be involved — perhaps included is a better word — in the hiring of the Browns new GM.

Why is this happening again? Mangni helped hire the other one, give me a break.
Yeah because that went sooooo well the first time. Not. Gonna. Happen. Check the Orange and Brown Report.
On a side note I will be involved in helping the sun the rise in the east.
What right does a coach have in hiring a GM. Only in Cleveland. Oakland is bad in many ways, but at least the GM – Al Davis – runs the show, not the coach.
Pat, does this mean mangini is safe at least through next year? this is absurd. i understand that you need to have a coach and gm that can work together, but you cant have mangini choosing his own boss again. 2010 Browns: another GM (marionette) fired, and another 2-14 season.
Mangini also said that he would work with Kokinis and they would come to a consensus with all of their decisions. Did you believe him then? Then why do you believe him now?
Hopefully Lerner won't let him pick his replacement too.
Once again, Pat, you take something and run with it without first checking the underlying facts. What Mangini actually said is he will have strong involvement in choosing his GM. OK, you got that part right about the GM. But that's where it ends about your reporting about the GM. Mangini strongly intimated that he is leaning towards selecting the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. But that damned screeching wife of his wants the all-new 2010 Chevy Equinox.
wow, lerner's such a swell guy, letting an employee hire his own boss once, witnessing the complete debacle it became, and deciding to try it again. Thank god he talked to those two dawg pound fans though!
how wonderful for lerner to "open" himself up to the media like this!

these were the most useless, vanilla responses I could have imagined from an owner. What scares me most is 1) him claiming that they won't even revisit the idea of looking for another head coach after this season, though I'm guessing that's something he's required to say at this point, and 2) claiming he will not sell the team. How might the Oakland Raiders organization is looking right now!
sorry that was supposed to be *mighty*
Pat, this is actually typical behavior for somebody like Mangini who is watching his power and position being dismantled. He acts like he is still in total control. He tells everynoe that no matter what happens, he meant for it to be that way. He is in arrogant denial. He's almost certainly done at the end of the season but he carries on like everything that happens is "part of the process."
As for Lerner, I'm sure he told Mangini that he would be "included" in the same way that a parent tells a child who asks to go to Disneyworld, "we'll see." Eric is done barring three more wins with an upset over the Steelers.
That Mangini is saying he'll be involved, at the very least, doesn't sound like someone who's been on the carpet with his boss. What did Lerner talk about with Mangini — that he's trying to do damage control with the fans and pay no attention to anything you hear me say publicly?
Dandy, Dandy makes a man of Orphan Annie!
Lerner is making Al Davis look more competent by the day.
Nice interview Lerner. You avoid questions just like Mangini.
Mangini is doing such a great job as coach, why would any team not want him.
And having the biggest laughing stock team in the NFL doesn't bother Lerner as long as he has Daddys money to waste. Besides he does have his soccer team.
