With a few exceptions, Wedge's teams have always lacked someone who would rise to the occasion and deliver what was needed. In Game 2 of the 2007 playoffs, in Fenway Park, Franklin Gutierrez hit a three-run homer into the screen above the Green Monster in the 11th inning. Now, that was clutch! But when you think back to the Wedge Era, it's hard to find moments like that. And the reason seems to be that Wedge doesn't manage, he just "let's the boys play". If they produce, we win, otherwise you see what this season has turned into…extended spring training.
And that's pressure-free.

Could Pat call out the Indians for even playing Johny Peralta, at all? Not even the "Losing Season" Pirates would let this boy imbecile onto the field, but the Tribe keeps putting him in the lineup and saying "This time he'll change. This time he'll pay attention.
