Holy smokes!

Check out the record Peter King predicts for the Browns. Wow. I'm not even sure I'd go to that length.

And the scouting report on the team by Ben Reiter concludes: “If the Browns — who'll be quarterbacked by either the unproven Brady Quinn or the regressing Derek Anderson, and whose schedule includes four games against the stacked Steelers and Ravens — don't improve significantly upon last year's disaster, (Eric) Mangini could quickly turn from discipline-instilling savior into overbearing scapegoat.”

Yes, things are just rosy all over.

And there you have it. The Browns are expected to win TWO games this season. No playoffs, no contention. So then, why is there even a second thought about who should be quarterbacking? We've seen D.A., and he's a .500 or worse QB who could not get his team to the playoffs. Now, it's time to afford our 1st-round pick the same opportunity in real games.

It's truly baffling to me why the Browns would want to divide their fanbase like this. As long as the "tease" D.A. is on the team, knuckleheads will be pounding the drum for him, believing that the '07 was more than a mirage. Guys, you're nuts. If Brady gets a full season and totally stinks up the joint (although a two-win season could not be placed totally on his shoulders….this team is bereft of any talent besides Cribbs and Braylon), then the Browns can consider drafting Colt McCoy or someone of that ilk who'll be ready in a year or two.

But first things first. We've got what MANY believe will be a star ready to roll. And the presence of D.A. on the sidelines is a distraction we just don't need. Move him now.

I had respect for Peter King, but 2 wins… He really hates the browns. If we only win 2 games there's gonna be a line at the 480 bridge to jump off. The bungles go 7-9 what is he smoking? Has he watched hard knocks?

I have posted this before: Peter King, with his unlimited access to almost all players, coaches, and mgmt. throughout the NFL, is one of the worst prognosticators when it comes to pro football. He writes well and has connections. End of discussion. Read Don Banks or Rick Gosselin or Len Pasquarelli.

As a matter of fact, I am saving his column to revisit one day after the Super Bowl. That should give me enough laughs until the start of regular season MLB.

If you ever really read Peter King's articles, you would see that he's one of the most biased frontrunners on the face of the planet. Granted, he does have a great wealth of football knowledge, but he jumps on any bandwagon of any team that just so happens to be good that season, especially the NE Patriots (in which he "claims" that he's not a fan..yeah right, he grew up in New England, and currently resides there..whatever.). Anyway, I could care less of his opinions, considering he gave the Browns no chance in '07, and look what they did. Then, he gave the Browns much hope in '08 as a Cinderella team, and look what happened then! Connections or not, his supposed "facts" get too much in the way of his opinions, and that's what they will only be to me, opinions. No matter what happens this year, I will cheer my Brownies on no matter what, and my true fellow Browns' fans will do the same. So please everyone, please don't read much into what Peter King says, it's a bunch of hot air (or hot coffee, in which I hope he spills into his lap.).

Peter King never admits when he is wrong. He doesn't like Brady Quinn and that colors his judgment.
I follow Buffalo too and it is the Bills that are looking at 3-6 wins. Trent Edwards can't throw the ball 10 yds because he is still shell shocked from the Cleveland game last year.
Brady Quinn will be fine, but has the D progressed?

  7. geddy says:

I guess not all that surprising, as I was figuring between 4 and 6 wins. Still, though, I don't think the browns will have the worst record in the NFL…the Raiders and Lions will have something to say about that.

  8. Matt J says:

Not to mention the Broncos, Geddy…

King, like most other NY based football writers, has a bias against Mangini because he frustrated them for 3 years with his non-responses while he was with the Jets. Everyone wants to write Mangini off as a failure before he's even coached a game that counts. Personally, I'm reserving my judgement….

  9. Will Martin says:

Peter King definitely dislikes the browns, probably because mangini didn't kiss his a** when he arrived in c-town. the browns efficiently stop the run and beat the titans, james davis breaks off for 75 yards, both QBs look impressive, and he doesn't even mention it. because God forbid, joe flacco and mark sanchez threw for a combined 1 TD and 3 picks.
    whatever.
the browns need to stop utilizing ancient players like hank poteat and david bowens and start letting quality young players like alex hall and david veikune play. why is our special teams unit so good? because that's where the youth is. and trade DA. we have ratliff to back up quinn.

    2 – 14 for the Browns? 8 – 8 for the Chiefs? Really Peter?

Peter King also said the Browns would represent the AFC in the Super Bowl upon the signing of Andre Rison in 1995. I have the Browns 1994 Video Yearbook to prove it. We all know how 1995 turned out. Take Peter's opinion for whatever it is worth.

7-9 or 8-8 is more likely for the 2009 Cleveland Browns. I would take either of those records and one win over Pittsburgh and call it a successful season.

Contrary to some of these dumb comments, King isn't one to pretend he didn't make a prediction that never came true. http://xr.com/alhc

  12. drew says:

No one, especially me, wrote that he didn't/doesn't admit when he is wrong; it is just that he is ALWAYS wrong. Thank Allah that he doesn't call himself on every wrong prediction, or it would be like reading a Corrections column in a newspaper.

He's Peter King, not Peter Nostradamus.
