Personal question

by Pat McManamon on July 29, 2009

in McManamon, What the heck?

It's vacation time of year again folks, and after Sunday I'll be off for two weeks. Taking my daughters someplace very special.

So I ask … and please respond in the spirit of the question … do you the kind readers of this drog care to be updated on the trip? Sights, sounds, ins, outs, castles, cliffs. Do you wish to be kept abreast, with perhaps an occasional photo and frog item? If so, I'll do it while on the trip. Provided, that is, I don't leave the laptop sitting in the kitchen all packed and ready to go like I did last year.

I'm kind of leaning toward trying to still write something on a regular basis. See .. some of you feel like family. Terje is the cousin who moved to Montana. T-Bomb the uncle who always liked Van Morrison. Elizabeth the neighbor lady around the corner. And Alan the cranky old uncle who always sat in the corner at family parties and gave everyone a hard time. Family. That (and the fact that I want this stinking flog to reach 100,000 hits in a month) has me inspired. Family. We are family. Sister Sledge and all that.

So … thoughts?

I'd be up for checking out the posts, but in real life, technically I'm the favorite/funny uncle.

Jason July 29, 2009 at 9:52 am

Eh. We'd rather moan about the Tribe, Favre, Vick and LBJ.

so long as stuff's interesting and alan and terje promise to still be snarky, i'm in

Drew July 29, 2009 at 10:19 am

Your vacation will be my break from Alan. Have a great time Pat!

Pat McManamon July 29, 2009 at 10:20 am

Drew … I should have mentioned we are going to Ireland … that change any thinking?

Elizabeth July 29, 2009 at 10:22 am

(sniff, sniff), thanks… no, there isn't ANYTHING going on here that is worth checking in for at the rate you do normally.

Aren't you supposed to pass the buck and make an coworker with less tenure do your work while your on vacation anyway?

If you do want to post something before you go: make a couple predictions of what you think will happen while your out and about.

Elizabeth July 29, 2009 at 10:24 am

…but if we're trying to get numbers, by all means post!

When did Yellowstone National Park move to Ireland. Herds of pale red-headed buffalo drinking out of Guinness Lake.

Last time he took a day off – not only did he post – not only did he respond to posts – he responded to blog post responses.

that's the standard we work with here.

I'd love to see trip updates and photos, but don't base your decision on what we say. It's your vacation and you should spend it however you see fit. Every second spent on this blog is a second you could've been spending finding the bottom of a Guinness pint….

Brian July 29, 2009 at 11:19 am

The Guinness here will never taste the same to you again, Pat. Be sure to visit the Cliffs of Mohr.

Drew July 29, 2009 at 11:40 am

Nah, Alan occasionally makes me laugh…Ireland sounds excellent, and the last set of pics from Yellowstone were stunning…I will hold the fort down for you.

Pat McManamon July 29, 2009 at 11:51 am

The Guiness count will be mitigated by having two 13-year-old girls with me. And the fact that I'm driving. On the wrong side of the road. On the other side of the car. With two 13-year-olds in the backseat doing whatever it is 13-year-olds do. But … the Cliffs of Moher are on the agenda, and I'm leaning toward posting. It's kind of fun. And the thought of being insulted across the ocean is kind of compelling in a quirky kind of way.
