Let Marte play every day (please)

Andy Marte's numbers in Columbus were staggering in their improvement. He hit .327 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI in 82 games. His OPS was an outstanding .963 and his on-base percentage was .369. Marte was not included on the Indians 40-man roster at the end of last season and chose to come back to Cleveland. He’s now given himself a chance to be part of the future. The Indians will give him a chance, but I hope a chance means he plays five or six games out of seven. Put him at first, let Victor Martinez catch everyone but Cliff Lee and see what happens.

What do you want to bet they call up Marte and then four days later they call up LaPorta and Andy takes his seat next to the watercooler for the remainder of the season?

How about we let Lee bat for himself, and use someone else to DH for Chopwhack when he catches?

And BTW, just what's the DEAL with Lee not able to throw to Martinez? Am I off-base in saying Lee is not the easiest person to like or get along with? How bad must Victor BE, if we're willing to put Chopwhack's 3-whiffs per game in the lineup every five days?

I think its Lee's choice to have Shoppach as his personal catcher. I'm wondering if David Huff will use Chris Gimenez as his too.

I'm sure Lee and Martinez have addressed the issues they had a couple seasons ago, but I think that's why Shop catches Cliff.. and it gets him in the lineup for some quality ABs…

… do we have a hitting coach, or did we throw him with the DeRosa trade?
