incorrect, terje ... Granted, the guy is Polish, which means he flew to Dallas and back in a plane with hair underneath its wings, but the trade exception didn't fly away.

Please. O'Neal isn't going to get paid a penny more or a penny less in his next contract based upon what he does this coming season. A delusional sales pitch disseminated by Windhorstian shills. The Pope is going to try out with the Washington Nationals before a 38-year-old guy's performance is the basis for his next contract.

He's *38*! *39* when he plays in 2010-2011! If he wants to stick around the NBA, he'll get his Dikembe Mutombo contract, but it will be for the exact same money and the exact same years no matter what he does. He knows this, he's no dummy. But the same can't be said for the folks in the media who spread that nonsense.

And actually, there's no doubt in my mind that Gilbert is writing off the Cavaliers as a business loss for tax purposes. What's your point?

Who in their right mind believes Ferry went into this off-season with the intent to set up Varejao financially for life. The only difference between Ferry's horrid off-season and Donnie Nelson's horrid off-season is that Nelson got badly duped by Otis Smith, while Ferry got badly duped by himself. Again.

Let me get this straight, an NBA player is going to be on cruise control during a CONTRACT year? Is Shaq retiring after this season? Last time I checked pro athletes in any sport tended to play harder and put up better numbers during the last year of a contract. And Shaq put up 18 points and 8 rebounds per game playing in an offense to which he was ill suited. But hey, that was a year ago, he's going to suck this year. In fact, he'll be so old and so fat they'll have to give him a cane and reinforce those padded chairs on the bench and get him one of those portable oxygen canisters. If they're really lucky he might even make it up and down the court twice before his knees collapse.

Heck, if the Cavs are going to rely on Shaq at center maybe they should just bring in Oscar Robertson to run the offense while they're at it. And then they can re-animate Pistol Pete Maravich to play the 2 guard. They're going to suck so bad this year they might as well trade LeBron before he heads off to Brooklyn so they can at least get something for him.

Gilbert is so blind to what Ferry is doing to this team he should sell the Cavs or disband them and write it off as a business loss for tax purposes. They'll be lucky if they make the playoffs this season with the idiotic moves Ferry has made. Better go to the Q this year kids because there won't be any basketball in Cleveland next year.

Because it's not late February or March or April or May or June now, that's why. Shaq is an old fat guy and will only get older and fatter as the season progresses. He'll be on cruise control throughout the last year of his contract. In fact, I'll be surprised if he makes it through the entire regular season without passing out at least twice. But on the bright side, at least he'll have Ilgauskas to land on and cushion his fall.

And yes, Vince Carter is better than anything they're now missing, and Ryan Anderson is as tall as and as good a long-range shooter as Turkoglu. And, unlike Turkoglu, he doesn't frighten women and children in high-definition, which is a major plus for all concerned. And speaking of fat, they'll also have a big fat trade exception to use at the trade deadline if they want.

If Ferry wasn't as much of a moron as he is, he'd order half of his huffing and puffing roster to be sealed in canisters and cryogenically frozen until March.

and how is carter better than anything they gave up? you're saying he's more of a matchup problem than turkoglu? Carter is using the same icy hot crap that shaq tries to pawn off on commercials

How did we go from "Shaq and LeBron would be unstoppable" to Shaq being an "old fat guy" in 4 months?
