I wonder if the fact that the contract is six years indicates something about the future of LeBron James. Let's be honest, James makes Varejao a better player, and Varejao is valuable because he plays so well off of and with James. That's a strength. Without James, Varejao would be the guy few other teams in the league were chasing. James' presence increases his value to the Cavs. So … perhaps the Cavs know something we don't, that James intends to stay long-term, and to maximize the team around him they will keep a guy who plays so well with him for a least five of those years. If they don't know it, I wonder if the length of this contract indicates they feel very confident about it. I understand I'm falling into the trap of looking at everything through the prism of LeBron … but I really wonder if this was a factor.

Oh, come on, Pat. If Ferry was Greek, he'd be Icarus.
Boy, this will-he-or-won't-he talk has grown sooooooooooo tired. At this point, I could give a flip what he does. Let's talk about Michael Jackson for a change.
Hey Jason, latest word on Jackson is that he is still dead. And I would rather discuss that for a thousand hours more than I would whether or not Mr. Yankee-Cap is a Cleveland-Household-Name, or "Uh, wasn't he a big star around here, awhile ago?" Following that theme, don't you suspect that Jackson's people are putting the final touches on the "Thrilled to Be Back From the Dead Tour" even as we speak? Show me the body!! Actually, on second thought…don't.
