Well … now it turns out Donte Stallworth was drinking with Braylon Edwards the night of the accident that left Mario Reyes dead. Edwards spent a lot of money, Stallworth had a few shots, then went home for a couple hours before getting up and leaving for breakfast. The story from The Associated Press is here, and it gives some more details of that terrible night.

Can somebody explain why all of the local Browns beat writers have been completely absent from this Stallworth story from beginning to end? Zero reporting. If there was a number less than zero, it would apply.
Alan … your scrutiny is keeping from ever considering returning to beat writing.
That is probably a wise move, Pat. But it never hurts to ask. You could make like Lance Armstrong with your comeback out of retirement. You could also probably juice and evade detection, just like Lance. I won't tell.
But seriously, why? It's now been almost four months since the original accident. Every single leak, every single story, has been obtained and reported on by writers far outside of Northeast Ohio.
Now, I'm reading about that knucklehead Edwards' indirect involvement off of the AP wire? Why? What in the world has your gal pal Marla been doing over there for the past four months? When she covered the Buckeyes for the Dispatch, she was a solid hard-working reporter. She's since morphed into Rip Van Ridenour. Unacceptable.
Even Quinn's finger thing I had to read from out of state sources. Why?
Bottom line, if you want to make a glorious Browns beat comeback, I won't object.
Braylon thinks we don't like him because he is from Michigan. That is completely false. We don't like because he is not a smart man and does not respect simple math.
He paid over $350 for a bottle of Patron Silver and $1500 for a bottle of champagne.
He could have went to a liquor store and bought El Toro tequila for $15 and J. Roget Sparkling for about $10. This would have left him with enough money to get some pizza and a few 'escorts' for the party!
