Now the Cavs are losing their offensive coach. John Kuester will take over as coach of the Detroit Pistons. Kuester was the assistant coach who took over the Cavs offense last year, and he was given high marks for the improvement shown. Kuester is a sound coach, a good guy and well-deserving of the chance.
But his departure hurts. It hurts the Cavs, it hurts continuity and it hurts the coaching staff. Mike Brown will find a new coach to run the offense, but it's been kind of a funky week for the Cavs — and it just continues.
I guess after committing so much money the past week, they needed to find some guy who's willing to work the NBA's coaching minimum wage and had a semblance of a prior working relationship with Dumars. So it must have been a tossup between Kuester or that imbecile who used to make a fool of himself over the Pistons' PA microphone. I can't imagine there is any other reason for them to hire a rookie head coach instead of Avery Johnson.
I really can't see how Mike Brown misses him. Who cares. Unless he's the same guy who picks out Brown's game tie, pocket hanky and colorful glasses haughty ensemble.
Also, please define "funky."
Funky ='s u Alan.
Tim, you lost me there, I have no idea what you just wrote. If you were attempting to insult me, maybe I don't want to have any idea what you just wrote. Don't know.
Granted its all just on paper right now, but I have to give the Pistons credit: they make a bonehead move trading for AI last season and have moved mountains to climb back up and become a force to be dealt with again. They're starting to become a scary team (on paper), but as the Tigers proved a couple seasons ago, its just on paper.
Kuester fits in like Saunders and Carlisle did. And he's got some young guys who haven't become "too big time" yet.
Elizabeth, if Randy Wittman … uh, I mean Kuester fits in like Saunders and Carlisle did, then he should begin sending out resumes on the first day he starts the job.
Kuester in the Pistons huddle: "Uhh … OK. Look at my clipboard, guys!!! OK, you four will stand over here. Now, on this other side of the court at the top of the key, LeBron will pound the ball on the floor while the rest of you kneel over and pretend to tie your shoes."
I think we'll be alright without this offensive "Mastermind".
I think I remember the Pistons doing decent under Saunders and Carlisle, but I'm not the genius of the blog comments, so I will admit that I am wrong.
Don't back down to Alan…Elizabeth. I find your posts to be far more intelligent than Alan's. He just tries to be a sarcastic comedian. He should leave that to Al Franken.
Elizabeth, they did do "decent," just decent enough to get themselves canned a little more than five minutes after they started the job.
I am certainly no professional, but I think I have enough knowledge of the professional NBA game to give Kuester a very sound coaching and job preservation tip: Rodney Stuckey pounding the ball while the other four stand around watching will get you fired a lot faster than it otherwise would have.
