There's a very, very interesting tale here from waitingfornextyear.com about a high school game between LeBron James' St. Vincent-St. Mary team against one from California (game in New Jersey) that featured Trevor Ariza. The same web site, incidentally, reports there are rumors Ariza is having second thoughts about agreeing with Houston, and that perhaps this is the reason GM Danny Ferry and coach Mike Brown are in LA. I can't verify that rumor, just report it. Apparently this rumor was making the rounds. Again, can't verify it … but the link is interesting.

I was in a rush leaving the house and didn't hear it very clearly. But I think Windhorst said in his radio interview this afternoon that Ferry and Brown are now in Los Angeles meeting with the agent of Carol Channing.
I wish it were Shari Lewis–I always thought Lambchop would look good running the point.

As for Ariza, I heard that his family is close to Houston, and that's the overriding reason he chose there. As we're seeing anymore, "winning" doesn't matter so much to these guys, as long as they're getting paid well and living close to their kids. Can't say I blame them, although I'd move my family to the city where I was playing for the next five years. There are lots of vacancies in Collinwood.
