The Lakers celebration — and Kobe's T-Shirt

by Pat McManamon on June 18, 2009

These are the Los Angeles Lakers appearing for their championship celebration, which drew about 400 people to the Staples Center. Note all the players are wearing white T-shirts, except Kobe Bryant, who has a grey one over the white shirt.

Now here is a closeup of the white T-Shirts and Bryant's.

The white one celebrates the team accomplishment. The grey one has Kobe's puppet hand from the commercials with Kobe's four rings. Wonder what the price was for Bryant to wear that shirt from Nike.

And to think I initially thought the puppets were pretty funny.

Guess the Orlando Magic saved the world from seeing LeBron James in his puppet T-Shirt.

Hey – take faith in the fact that the puppets only have four fingers, so Kobe's done – he can't win anymore.

I still love the character t-shirts… very old school. I think that would be a fun throwback giveaway for the Cavs next season – do t-shirts of each of the players, collect them all. However, they have better things to work on than giveaways right now.

(Now, if they were the Indians, that would be job No. 1…)

Yeah, it's all about you, Kobe.

Jason, if that was LeBron, he'd be wearing a puppet t-shirt *and* a Yankees hat. And don't think LeBron hasn't already been told that Bryant beat him in the brand-new Forbes list of the world's richest athletes. That's a double whammy.

By the way, those later puppet commercials were starting to come off as more than just a tad gay in a Bert and Ernie kind of way.
