Eric Wedge is falling on the sword. FOX's Ken Rosenthal: "He appears in no danger of losing his job. But he has informed general manager Mark Shapiro that if anyone gets fired, it should be him – the ultimate act of accountability from a manager who demands the same of his players."

Uggh… Ken Rosenthal. Was that supposed to inspire me to stand and do the slow clap building into applause of appreciation of the 'character' Wedge has shown?
I loved the fact that there was an article above the Wedge piece about the Jays, who brought back their former manager to finish last season, but Cito stayed on.
Now, I'm fully aware that it isn't 1995, "and Albert Belle, Jim Thome, and Paul Sorrento aren't coming through that door*", but I wonder IF there were a change at the top if Mike Hargrove would suffer through the end of 2009 with us. I'm not delusional, just kinda wondered…
(*ad lib of classic Rick Pitino quote from his days with the Celtics.)
The chorus calling for Hargrove's encore is becoming deafening. I think, at this point, he'd be the ideal personality to counter Wedge's "intense" style. Not that Wedge is a bad guy, but he's the constant here. Grover can re-instill some fun and relaxation in the team's psyche, and let's face it….the fans love the Hargroves. Mike was unjustly fired by Hart (who simply wanted Manuel to get his shot). Shapiro never would've fired Hargrove. This move might be the only thing that can save the season and sell tickets right now. A complete coaching overhaul. Wedge, Skinner, Datz, and both the pitching & hitting coaches. Their act has grown tired.
