The Indians start is reaching the miserable level. Jason Bay's three-run home run off Kerry Wood in the ninth inning might have driven it there. As Geoff Beckman writes, "It's like you're on a 'Chamber of Horror' ride– a new disaster every day. You just want to scream 'What's next? How are you guys planning to screw me tomorrow?'"
Eric Wedge is angry, and that's good. But it would be nice to see the players get angry and do something about things. Wedge talked about needing a leader to step forward on the team, and he's right. One thing that I've felt consistently is that the Indians of last season and this lack the guy who will grab everyone by the throat or stick a foot in some backsides.
It's trite, but every team needs a veteran voice who can cut through the malarkey when things are not going well. The Indians seem to have a lot of similar personalities, which makes it tough for one to stand out.
Something has to happen – especially because the Indians heading into Tuesday night's game are still "just" 4 ½ games behind. Which means the deficit is not too large.
Not yet at least.

4-1/2 games back, and we've lost twice as many games as we've won. And There are still two days in APRIL!
Is anyone tired of hearing about the proper "approach?" We've heard it since Wedge arrived, and it hasn't happened yet. Isn't it time for the front office to change their entire "approach" to assembling talent? When we have Manny-type phenom hitters waiting at Columbus, what are we fooling around with Crowe, Francisco, Dellucci and Choo for? We lead the league in mediocre outfielders, and infielders who don't hit. Garko? DeRosa? Graffanino? Peralta? And usually Cabrera. Come freakin' ON!
It's time to shake things up…and RIGHT NOW. Shapiro, remember when you sat pat after 2007 and it equalled disaster? Stand pat now, and watch yet another season go down the drain in May…and see how your attendance goes kaput.
I find it interesting that Shapiro and Wedge want players devoid of personality….guys who toe the line, and then, when things go bad, are asking them to step up and become vocal. Go figure!
