A report in Yahoo from Jason Cole indicates the Browns are dangling bait in an effort to trade down from the fifth spot. Which, if true, is sound thinking and a good move. The Browns need players, and more draft picks gets them more players.
Cole states the Browns are the most eager of all the teams in the draft's top 10 to move down, and they are willing to trade anyone. Which presumably includes Brady Quinn. Coles' information is attributed to three NFL coaches.
"That bluff they did two weeks ago when they said they wanted (USC quarterback Mark) Sanchez, I don't think anybody is buying that for a second," says the unnamed coach. "But they do want Sanchez [pictured] to fall to them because that's about the only guy anybody wants to trade up for … Cleveland wants more picks because they want to do a complete makeover on the offense and upgrade the defense. Everything is in play with the Browns, Braylon Edwards, their pick. Everything."
