Anthony Castrovince of mlb.com provides the following stats to put the Indians start in perspective:
Starting pitchers have thrown 65 2/3 innings, less than 5 1/3 per game.
The bullpen has thrown 44 1/3 innings.
The bullpen ERA is 6.50.
Kerry Wood has been in one save situation.
Writes Castrovince: "With numbers like that, it doesn't matter that the Indians are leading the AL in runs scored per game."
True that.
I can't think that anyone, anywhere in the land of Cleveland Indians fans is surprised by those statistics at all.
I'm more concerned that Cliff Lee's middle name is "Phifer."
