The things you can find on the internet

Time to give Carl Pavano his due. Not many folks thought he could to to New York and not leave a sweating, disheveled mess. But he pitched very well Sunday, giving up one run in six innings. Proving once again you can find anything on the internet, here's a pitch chart of Pavano from Sunday's game in New York (with thanks to Brooks Baseball for the work, effort, insight and charts). Pavano pretty clearly kept the ball off the middle of the plate, and moved it around quite a bit (green is a ball, red is a strike, blue a ball in play). His "location," as they say, was good. Location. That's what it was.

And here is the same chart from his first start on April 9 in Texas, when he got lit up Texas. Slight difference in control and location. Again, location. L-o-c-a-t-i-o-n. Location.

Finally … here is a chart showing how Pavano changed speeds against New York. With a very high level of effectiveness.

This proves two things: It's worth giving Pavano time (like there's a choice?), and the internet is the greatest font of amazing information since Golden Book sold encyclopedias at Pick 'N Pay near Bunts in Lakewood.

My doctor took a look at your charts and graphs. Evidently Pavano has arrhythmia and a low sperm count.
