The lack of confidence and angst from Detroit regarding the first-round series against the Cavs is overwhelming. Folks at the Alamo might have felt better about their future.
"The Cavs have a June date with the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Pistons ultimately will be a footnote when the history of the Cavs' special season of 2008-09 is written," wrote Vince Ellis in the Detroit Free-Press.
Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News had this to say: "The Pistons finished under .500 for the first time since 2001 and have virtually no chance against LeBron James and his assorted teammates. I'd be surprised if the Pistons won more than a single game."
The News conducted an online poll to predict the outcome. Forty-one percent of voters said Cavs in four, 29 percent said Cavs in five. A robust 11 percent of believers picked the Pistons in seven.
Why nothing about the Detroit-Columbus hockey series. I guess Cleveland/Akron is really that crummy of a hockey town, nobody cares. I know the Lake Erie Monsters are Colorado's NHL affiliate, but still, nothing about the series? I mean, Detroit won the NHL title last season.
Ohio State's playing the Red Wings?
larry, yes, that is correct. Ohio State is playing the Red Wings. Also, my favorite American Hockey League team name of all-time, no, check that, my favorite sports team name of all-time is the Manitoba Moose.
