As today's 2:05 p.m. game approaches, the Indians record is 1-7 and we are celebrating a starting pitcher giving up four runs in six innings.
Is that what we've come to?
The Indians are seventh in the American League in runs scored, but it could be so much better. Cleveland entered today's game hitting .206 with runners in scoring position (RISP), and .125 with RISP and two outs.
That's not good.
The bullpen ERA is 6.37, and seven of the runners on base when relief pitchers entered the game have scored.
The starting pitching entering today's game: 1-5 with a 10.13 ERA.
The last time the Indians started 0-5 was 24 years ago, and the last time they started 1-7 was 22 years ago.
Which means the Indians are off to a start as bad as any in decades.
The reward after today: A trip to open Yankees stadium in New York and face CC Sabathia.

Maybe it's time for another "How does the Tribe front office do it?" posting. Those were good last winter.
Yeah, but I'll tell you what IS pretty, or rather…lookin' good, as Chico used to say. Has anyone told Grady that he's been upstaged in the Looks Dept. by our new submarine-style pitcher? There have to be some broken hearts in NY with Joe Smith's departure.
