I was just talking with somebody about this very subject last week. It is the new hackneyed word on the sports print scene that makes me want to wretch. And wretch again. And again. I kid you not, I was surfing on ESPN's site this past Thursday, and when I got there, on the front page, I immediately noticed the word "epic" was used in FOUR different places on their page, whether to describe a sports result, their crummy blogs, their no-effort podcasts, or whatever crap they're churning to drive traffic over there. Please, for the love of all that is still pure in sportswriting, STOP IT. No more "epic." Thank you. Pat, do not use the word "epic" in any of your stuff anymore. Seriously.
