The Donte Stallworth situation

by Pat McManamon on March 15, 2009

in Donte Stallworth, McManamon

I'm well aware of what happened with Donte Stallworth, that he hit and killed a pedestrian while driving his Bentley in Miami early Saturday morning. But I'm not going to comment. A man lost his life, and until all the facts are known, I think it's best to respect the man and his family and reserve comment until we learn what happened.

i'm not going to comment on that stuff. but i will mention that the browns giving him a $4.75 million dollar roster bonus is absurd. j.j. in a wheelchair could put up better stats than he did last year. the guy sucks but mangenius and koko the monkey didn't bat an eye when signing that check. sure, they might be able to recoup the cash depending on the situation in florida. but they should have dumped that scrub before dumping j.j.

the browns organization is a giant steaming pile of crap.

I finally found out from other parts, since Pat never answered my repeated question ("Bad Pat. BAD!"), but apparently what's his face (I know I'd mess up the spelling) was going to be due only a $250,000 roster bonus. Basically, only about a third of the cost of the Manguini interior decorating project.

I doubt they'll ever get that Stallworth bonus back, it wasn't a signing bonus, it was a roster bonus. Combined with the cash spent on the Manguini home improvements, this is all money that could have retained all those office employees on the payroll for years. Literally.

Also, why is Alan MacCracken still with the Browns given that he was replaced by yet another person with a Jets pedigree? What does MacCracken do with all his free time? Fetching the new gal's coffee can't take more than five, maybe 10 minutes a day, tops.

Maybe now they'll take my hope into consideration, and at least give Michael Crabtree some semblance of first-round consideration if he's still available.

you two guys need to re-read yourselves a couple hours later……..it's almost pathetic the way you keep beating the same drum over and over and over. Intelligent criticism is one thing, but you two have no idea what Mangini brings to the table. Give it a little time, then your musings will be taken much more seriously. A couple more trades, a few more draft picks…..they will be ok.

It's my understanding that we were stuck with Daintie's bonus and maybe even this year's salary….similar to BigBoys situation as far as being traded [per his req]..can't happen. Pat is prob. much more aware of these details. Any truth to the gossip[according to my neighb. who regularly pranks me by the way...and his wife spanks me but I digress] that his psngr was like a 19 yr old male? Maybe he accidentally spiked him jogging at the beach and was rushing him to safety.

You're totally wrong, Joyce B, I know exactly what Manguini brings to the table: an electric power fork.

He had a young male passenger with him in his car before dawn on a Saturday morning? I hope you're right, with any luck, this is an Eddie Murphy-type situation.
