Someone gets it that LeBron might not leave, and why the difference in judgment with Quinn and Anderson?

Finally, there's someone out there who gets it that Lebron James will not automatically leave Cleveland after next season, that LeBron's driving force is multiple championships, and that he knows nobody has ever done it in his home town. As Ian Thomsen writes on SI.com: "To become the equal to (or eclipse) Jordan, LeBron must be universally loved. People would love him for staying in Cleveland. Plus, there are billions of people in China who won't view LeBron any differently whether he's in New York or Cleveland."

–Thomsen also sums up the Antonio McDyess situation. There are many who feel that the longer McDyess waits, the more clear it is that he's returning to Detroit. But the team that has offered him the most money is the Cavs (take that all those folks who say the Cavs don't try!). Oh, if McDyess would sign with the Cavs. That makes a championship-caliber team even better.

–Regarding Brady Quinn, I feel compelled to state that had Derek Anderson played the way Quinn did in Buffalo, folks would have been out to squash his bigfoot. Quinn did some good things, but he was 14-for-36 and struggled against a variety of blitzes. On the game-winning drive, he threw three incompletions in a row, forcing the Browns to turn to Phil Dawson and his 56-yard kick. Not that I care who starts. I honestly don't. The Browns should start whoever can win. I just find it interesting how they're viewed and judged. So … Anderson's eight games included six against the league's top nine defenses: Pittsburgh (1), the Giants (2), Baltimore twice (3), Washington (4) and Dallas (9). Quinn today faces the 22nd-ranked defense, and he's played No. 13 and No. 29.

–When you see Eric Wright try to tackle tomorrow, think of Daylon McCutcheon. Pound for pound, McCutcheon remains the best pure football player the Browns have had since 1999.

–Perhaps this is the Irish-Catholic coming out of me, but I found it interesting that Harvard-Yale play today for the 125th time, and the game also comes on the 45th anniversary of John Kennedy's assassination. Interesting story on it here.

–Finally, I'm sure we've all wondered how we'd look in uniform standing next to Adriana Lima. Well now we know:

I'm pretty sure you are a Derek Anderson guy Patrick.

That was Quinn's 2nd career start. Not his 23rd or 25th career start. Anderson too often looking like a first year player was what got him benched. Cant the media just relax on the Cleveland QB's for oh, I don't know. Once in the past decade (literally).

Man, reading the sports these days is about as enjoyable as punching myself in the face. Article after article about the Browns until we finally hit rock bottom with a media crush on Phil Savage's curse word. Then, when we finally get a piece on the Cavs, it's about LeBron leaving. Again. I'm going to start reading about world news pretty soon if this keeps up.

Why are we still talking about Derek Anderson, Pat?

Do you really feel its worth still discussing? The guy was the lowest rated starting QB in the league during his time starting here this season. He was given the chance to run Quinn out of town and he didn't do it. Pat if you support the Browns you need to get behind Quinn; not compare a QB in his 2nd start to a guy who made 14 for 38 starts a habit in his 20th, 24th, 26th starts and so on. What is it with the media in this town and trying to slam anyone who plays QB?

In two starts, Quinn had outstanding stats in the first and a gritty win in the last 2 minutes in the second. There's really not much to complain about yet.

In fact he's almost always done pretty well, despite reports that he would sit out his rookie year and never play for the Browns, that he threw wobbly passes, that he just plain 'looks bad' in practice, etc., etc. It's not the fans' judgment that is odd, it's the ABJ coverage. If ABJ staff writers were correct in their qb assessments, Charlie Frye would still be starting.

Thank God for makeup artists and smoking hot stiletto heels. Otherwise, folks would have to logically conclude that Pat has far more serious a drinking problem than Terry Pluto did when he used to worship Charlie Frye.

Speaking of those smoking hot stiletto heels, is it my imagination, or did she break the right one in that photo taken on the set of Gilligan's Island. Look at that thing. Either that, or Pat was gnawing on her foot like a piece of rawhide.

Anyway, thank God for makeup artists and smoking hot stiletto heels.

Coming from a guy who jocks DA harder than anyone:

Chris Mortensen: Browns fans will tell you that I am very high on Derek Anderson and opposed his benching. But after listening to all the critics during that pre-draft analysis of Quinn, I have seen enough from Quinn in practice, preseason and these two starts to see that he is going to be an absolute star in the NFL. I'm not just faulting the Dolphins – I'm saying a lot of teams blew it on Quinn. He prepares like Peyton Manning. Physically, he's big, strong & athletic. I can tell he knows how to play fast. His arm is actually stronger than advertised. His leadership is champion-like. You don't pass on QBs like that, so I assign this oversight to a lot of teams.
