Oh come on. I am sick of people like you who bash newsprint. I love the print edition of the Beacon. Not everyone has a computer you know. I plan to work at the Beacon in the future.

Eliminate the sports page, eliminate newsprint, eliminate paper and put the entire publication online together with lots of ads, blogs and stuff with lots and lots of fluff and tabloid nonsense? I think they're already more than one step ahead of you, Eric.

Sure, the Cavs should be interested in Darius Miles. It would fit right in with Ferry's master plan. "Hey, let's take a look at a slasher who can't slash anymore!" Between Miles' missing knee, Traylor's missing heart, Ferry's missing brain, and the forks sticking out of Wallace's and Ilgauskas' backs, they can all skip down the yellow brick road to another NBA championship.

And it's always nice to see that "higher education" means giving $160,000 to a basketball program. God forbid they should give it to a good professor or two.

Still waiting for an answer as to why nobody is being sent to the Olympics, as to why Thomas' blog has gone bye-bye, and if Thomas, let alone anybody on the planet, is going to be a temporary fill-in on the Beacon Journal Cavs beat. Granted, Windy's summer and early autumn stuff would consist of nothing but his patented litany of unfounded rumors, but at least it's something, even if the underlying basis consists of nothing.

And as to this particular post, I really don't get it. Are you saying that a team's pitching can marginally suck so long as there are great hitters and solid defense to compensate for it?

Personally, one of the things I like to do when it comes to the Olympics and other international competitions is cheer for the smaller, extreme underdog countries. Most of these athletes never get mentioned because they don't compete at the very top level. They are still, however, living a dream and frequently have all the odds stacked against because of reasons beyond their control (practice facilities, money, quality coaching, etc...).

Therefore, I have always wanted to see someone just do some profiles of the out of the spotlight countries and/or athletes to help capture the overall spirit of the Games.
