I'm all for it, but it makes too much sense…so the Browns will pass on Bradford and we'll have to endure another subpar year at the most important position on the field, contested by two schmoes who've pretty much shown they're nothing more than 2nd or 3rd string backups in this league.
I'll take Clausen or Bradford…both are major upgrades for us.
awful.
i quit reading after the first 4 picks (QB, RB, OT, TE)
Really?
The first 4 picks are all on one side of the ball?
They need to contribute immediately…rookies at skill positions don't do that.
No thanks.
I'll take Defense, Defense and more Defense.
Holmgren will address QB, but a rookie is not the answer.
Rothlisberger, Flacco and Sanchez performed admirably because the rest of their teams were ready…put any rookie into CLE's lineup and they'll call him Couch or Brady by the end of the year.
Hubbs, you say defense x 3? How is that putting skilled position players around a QB? Mangini obviously didn't know a skilled player from a sack of dirt, which is why we had ZERO OFFENSE until the final four games, three vs. awful teams.
We need a skilled QB and offense, offense, and more offense. The tight end they found at the end of the year is the ONLY reliable receiver on the team. Holmgren, thankfully, knows that you don't win in the NFL without a high-powered offense.
So all you folks who cry "run the ball, stop the run," tough luck. That mantra has gotten the Browns a decade of futility. Howzabout we open up the passing attack, like in the days of Sipe and Bernie…the last time we were consistent winners, BTW. I've seen enough 2-yard chugs up the middle. Let's see some 20-yd. gains thru the air. And the two QBs we have now ain't gettin' it done.
i don't like mangini, but tell me who put together the Jets D that rode them to the AFC championship game.
i love offense more than the next guy, but draft a qb and you got some real problems…if we draft a WR not named Benn or Dez, odds are he won't start. The only way we get one of them is to draft them in the 1st.
here's the bottom line: I am open minded and will not complain about the draft for 2-3 years. I just hope we draft an impact player on D (Berry,Heyden, McClain, etc) with our 1st and not throw another hail mary by drafting a qb and hoping he pans out.
