Florida rules recruiting

The recruiting class getting the most acclaim tonight is Florida. Some are calling the Gators class the best in the recent history and one of the best all time. Boy, what would have happen if Urban Meyer wouldn't have taken a leave of absense?

Our local coverage is all posted at this point on the Sports page on Ohio.com.

The highlights:

New UA coach Rob Ianello likes the mix he got and went out of his way to thank the previous coaching staff for getting this class started. Eight kids who gave oral commitments to J.D. Brookhart stuck with Ianello.

Doug Martin didn't go balanced at all. He brought in 16 defensive players out of the 20 added to the Flashes roster.

Ohio State had a bad day, using itself as a measuring stick. Most rank the class in the high teens or low 20s. But still it is not a bad class. A couple of late decisions went against Jim Tressel. But not all is bad in Columbus. The Buckeyes are expected to begin next season in everyone's top 5.
