Mack Mitchell was an interesting prospect with a cool name, but he was no Cleveland Crosby.

I agree, I loved The Sporting News. It's where I was able to compare Mack Mitchell to all the other defensive ends coming out of college. Great publication, the best freelancing newspaper writers, solid sports from cover to cover. Much like the Beacon Journal, everything is morphing into an online traffic rag. If this was 1972, Chris Berman would be bellowing about the Browns drafting Thom "Better Homes And" Darden. Oh, well. At least I still have my 8-track collection to look at while I'm complaining about my bad back.

The Sporting News was an awesome magazine, when it was newsprint. There is no awesome sports mag these days which is sad for the youngsters.
