Cavs: Day after

by Ron Ledgard on February 23, 2008

in Cavaliers

The Cavs gained two things, at least, from their mega trade.

1. Playoff experience in Ben Wallace. He has won a championship as a role player. He also can be an enforcer if any team takes liberties with LeBron.

2. Confidence. GM Danny Ferry showed the team that winning a title now, not in a year or two, is a priority. And despite these guys getting paid millions to play, a show of commitment from the front office does motivate pro players in any sport. Want a good example, look at last night's game. Only having two starters and eight total players, they beat the Wizards.

I think this trade should be judged in the playoffs, but at first blush, this was a good one.
