Smit is absolutely correct. It's rather obvious to anyone with half a brain...the greedy NFL does not want to "give away" their product on "free TV" anymore. This is a not-so-subtle way of priming the pump. I am sickened by all pro sports owners and greedy players. When I hear of some athlete breaking a new "financial ceiling," I have enough sense to know that we're one step closer to not seeing the sport anymore.

It's not about the cable companies being forced to add the NFL network. The crooks in Washington don't get it and I guess most fans don't. This is a step towards pay to watch and unless the fan starts complaining we're all going to be paying to watch NFL foot ball just as we are paying for the Big Ten Network right now.

Cable companies are going to be "forced" to add the network, anyway. The NFL will ultimately make a deal they can't refuse and give them minority ownership in the network, and VOILA! There's the NFL Network appearing on your cable system.
