Mitchell report
Senator George Mitchell's report on steroids and other performance enhancers is set to be released tomorrow at 2 p.m.
My gut tells me that the baseball fans don't care who used and who didn't.
They want their teams to win and that really is all that matters.
So if it comes out that Manny and Thome used during the playoff runs in the late 90s, I don't think the Tribe fans will hold it against them.
In fact, I believe most folks think that these guys used because that is what everyone else was doing.
Other than Hall of Fame credentials, nothing will come from this report.

Betcha Thome used. Although, I do remember your former guy Pluto was (and still is) so gung-ho homerish, he actually wrote that Thome was always clean. Why, you ask? Well, because he saw Thome's father, who was also a larger guy. Well, there you have it. Irrefutable proof that Thome was on nothing but Wheaties.
Betcha Hafner used. Maybe still is using, since human growth hormone still stupidly isn't tested. God forbid blood samples are taken of American pro athletes instead of just their urine, it might intrude upon a guy's inalienable God-given human rights.
But I think you're right, other than the initial heavy curiosity factor, nobody will give a damn, particularly since the 15-day suspensions they're giving is a freaking joke. After all, nobody cares that Rafael Betancourt was already stupid enough to get himself caught back in 2005. In fact, most fans either don't know or have already forgotten it.

I neglected to write that with the above said, I can't see the report having all that many names in it. Without any subpoena power and no testimony under oath, it seems like a total dog and pony show to me. Other than that Mets locker room guy and a few other sources forced to name names, Mitchell was like a eunuch at a whorehouse.

The only thing the Mitchell report will do is improve Bonds' first ballot Hall of Fame chances.
