And another thing …

Monday, October 8th, 2007

The Cavaliers are doing the right thing. They should not give into the demands of Anderson Varejao or Sasha Pavlovic. … The Indians bullpen is the reason they are where they are, and it will be what decides if they win the World Series or not. … Jamal Lewis being healthy is the difference between 8 wins and 5 or 6 wins for the Browns.

Will any team be undefeated in college football come November? … The Big Ten Network has been a dud. … By the way, that will be the only way to watch the OSU-Kent State game Saturday. … I don't think you will miss much.

Roger Clemens, Cooperstown is calling. It is time to trigger your five-year wait. … Dan O'Dowd of the Rockies and Josh Byrnes of the Diamondbacks; both GMs, also both former members of the Tribe front office. … No wonder the Pirates hired Neal Huntington as GM; the Tribe knows how to grow great front office folks.

Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon? I am pulling for Gordon. … Mike Tirico is everywhere.

NHL under way

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Obviously with the TV ratings, the NHL is not high on folks radar screens.

And that is too bad.

The game is fast, there is hard hitting and it can turn in an instant.

The biggest loss for fans, though, is that these players might be the hardest-working of all the pros and add in that there are few off-the-ice incidents. Anyone hear the name Shannon Brown? Or Leigh Bodden? Or steriods in baseball? Or Travis Henry in the NFL?

The Columbus Blue Jackets are the team that we can see the most in NE Ohio on FSN, but they are probably one of the worse teams in the league. New management seems to have them on a track to better days.

I recommend watching a few games and see the work of Rick Nash and the toughness of Michael Peca.

Managers in playoffs

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Manager Lou Piniella of the Cubs pulled one of those playoff moves that I don't understand.

He removed a pitcher who is pitching well from a tight game to use him 3 games later.

What if there is not a game in three games?

The Cubs' best chance is Carlos Zambrano. Lou pulls him after 85 pitches with the score tied 1-1 and now the Cubs are down 1-0.

Hey Lou, there is no guarantee there will be a Game 4. Hopefully for those long suffering Cubs fans it doesn't bite them. I would rather win Game 1 and worry about Zambrano in Game 4 when it arrives.

TBS baseball playoffs

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

I think TBS/TNT will do a fine job on postseason baseball.

TNT does the NBA far better than ESPN does.

With Chip Caray, Bob Brenly, Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn and Ernie Johnson Jr., it should be quality coverage.

And with Alyssa Milano listed as part of the crew, how can you not watch?
