Not much to say

Posted September 10th, 2007 by Ron

That might have been the worst I have seen an NFL team start a season.

The Browns look like they wait for something to go wrong, and then when something does, they fall apart.

Going with Patrick McManamon's theme of taking responsibility for this mess, the organization can no longer point at the Chris Palmer/Dwight Clark/Butch Davis era as the reason for this.

Every team in the NFL experiences turnover from year to year. Look at the Patriots, they are a Super Bowl contender again, just two Super Bowls removed from their last win, and more than half the team is changed.

Also, by the way, I was no fan of Butch Davis, but the Browns did make the playoffs with him.

Marla, you're being particularly vague in a political baloney kind of way. "The organization?" You sound like Windhorst.

I know it's not in the nature of local sportswriters to do anything that may appear "edgy" or "controversial," but perhaps you can be one of the very first to buck the system. Enough with "the organization" nonsense. Why say "George Bush" when you can avoid alienating anybody important by simply changing the name to "the executive branch?"

What are the human names in "the organization" you are criticizing?

Oh, wait a minute … you're not Marla.

The organization would be everybody. The scouts, the GMs, the coaches. I saw no facet of the game where the Browns did anything well. Besides the Steelers on Sunday, only Jerry Jones can be happy with the Browns. That first-round pick for Brady Quinn is looking better and better for the Cowboys.
