The Indians and Tigers start a two-game series tonight at Jacobs Field.
Is it a big deal or is it two teams struggling to see straight?
Both of these teams looked like sure playoff teams in May, now they are both lucky that the rule requires a team from the Central Division to take part in the playoffs.
Isn't it time to take Kenny Lofton and put him in the leadoff spot and drop Sizemore to the three slot? Sizemore gets on base, I know, but he also strikes out too much. Manager Eric Wedge needs to do something to shake up this offensive offense.

Eric Wedge is reading your blog, Ron, and following your advice. Please keep doing your best to save our Tribe's season!
If that's the case, Peter….then, Eric: please keep Borowski out of tie or close games. We all know this guy is not a closer (or even effective set-up guy). He has walked the tightrope all season, and has to be every manager's (and fan's) nightmare in the late innings. The closer role will need to be filled next year, and I guess I'm suggesting R. Perez and/or Betancourt. We can't have all these meltdowns again in '08….it's too demoralizing for the team.
Although, that sad-sack bunch of non-hitters may be so accustomed to demoralization, it may not matter. The stark reality is: Eric Wedge cannot manufacture even one run, even when a hitter leads off with a double. That, alone, tells you that he is not the guy for this team going forward. You have to know how to generate ONE run before you can begin to think about bigger rallies.
