Classy video

Posted August 8th, 2007 by Ron

Barry Bonds moved past Hank Aaron last night into the top spot on the all-time home run list.

The game stopped for a few minutes as Bonds hugged his family and Willie Mays and then the fans and Bonds were treated to a video message from Aaron.

Aaron, who last month responded badly to a question about Bonds, paid a great tribute to Bonds, and more important, the game with his kind comments.

I figure if Aaron can honor Bonds, then the rest of us should think the same way.

It was 100% insincere, but I think somebody very smart told Aaron that his legacy will be FAR greater if he did that video. That video wasn't made for Bonds, it was made strictly for Aaron. It was ingenious, it should be mandatory viewing in all college communication classes for those that want to grow up to be a PR flak.

I'm going to honor Bonds for being a great player, he was a great player even before his melon swelled to the size of Mount Rushmore. But honor him for this record? Not a chance.

All of the men and boys in my family have made a clear-cut, and CORRECT decision to dishonor Bonds for his desecration of baseball for as many generations as we can pass the truth down. You might want to consider doing the same.

Or do they force the "Book of Political Correctness" on everyone at The Beacon Journal?

Brutus Buckeye, so long as all the men and boys in your family also decide to dishonor Ryan Tucker for desecrating football, then I suppose that decision isn't going to raise much in the way of debate with respect to its hypocritical aspects.
