UA stadium a reality

Many folks thought that this day would never come but the University of Akron will have a on-campus football stadium.
It will be called InfoCision Stadium with the turf being called Summa Field.
The 30,000 seat stadium is set for its first game Sept. 12, 2009, against the University of Kentucky.
Congratulations to UA, and some good news for downtown Akron.

InfoCision Stadium? Might be a nice place, but it's a lousy corporate name. Sounds like a facility for rabbis to snip baby wangs.

Is this a joke? The stadium has a sponsor, but the "turf" has ANOTHER sponsor???
Let's see, how about "The Swenson's Goal Posts", "the FirstEngergy Hash Marks", and "the Beacon Journal Players' Benches"?
Yet AGAIN, Akron becomes a laughing stock and does things backwards.

Actually, Brutus, that's the way things are going these days. Akron may indeed may be an object of ridicule, but it's not going to be because the fake grass has its very own sponsor name. Ohio State's arena did pretty much the same kind of thing.
Unless you intend to pay for the facility, they've gotta get their money back and make a few bucks on top of it. If you don't like the Akron turf having its own name, then simply do what I'm going to do. I'm going to call it "Steve." I'll be spitting in Summa's eye.
