Quinn, quiet please

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

I keep reading wire reports with Brady Quinn saying how good he is going to be and how he is the player to right the Browns.

I also know that he is performing poorly in workouts and that he is fourth out of four QBs on the depth chart. In other words unless there is a total disaster of a season or injuries, his best friend on the team is going to be the clipboard. And that could be for a couple of seasons.

It might help if Quinn made fewer public appearances/comments and made more plays in practice before he talks about being the Browns QB.

Browns riff

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Michael Silver of SI.com ranked the NFL owners in his most recent column. But he had an interesting note about Crennel and Savage.

Here is what he wrote:

22. Randy Lerner, Browns

Unlike the Glazers, who bought Man U because it was a shrewd business move, Lerner — at least as I see it — bought Aston Villa last summer because he has an incredible passion for footie. That's cool, unless you happen to be a Browns fan. Lerner, who lives in New York, is more likely to turn up across the pond than he is at Browns headquarters, where a source says general manager Phil Savage — having prevailed in a power struggle against former team president John Collins late in the '05 season — is now feuding with coach Romeo Crennel. It sounds like somebody needs to be yellow-carded, but who knows if Lerner is even paying attention? The Browns had a promising draft, but this is a dysfunctional franchise.

Now how Lerner isn't lower I don't know, but if Savage is now fighting with the coach whom he hired, I have to begin to question Savage. He got the team president fired but he has to have a coach … I think.

The Price is Right?

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Dan Patrick said on his radio show Monday that he did audition for the Price is Right. Can they seriously hire him?

The LA Daily News reported over the weekend that there are about half a dozen folks in consideration to replace the retired Bob Barker.

Half the people who watch the show, if not more, have no idea who Dan Patrick is.
