AFC North QBs

by Ron Ledgard on July 19, 2007

in Browns, NFL

Breaking down the AFC North quarterbacks:

1. Carson Palmer, Bengals: Great talent but still needs to show that he has recovered from knee injury and can lead a team with expectations. Disappointing in 3-game losing streak to end last season.

2. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers: Another talented QB who already owns a Super Bowl ring. He also needs to show that he is back from injury and can adapt to a new coach and coordinator.

3. Steve McNair, Ravens: Seems older than he actually is. He could return the team to the playoffs or be injured before the first game.

4. Derek Anderson, Browns: Showed some flashes but no track record and no mobility means that Charlie Frye will play some.

I would like to see Anderson start off the season and then have Frye play some. Also I think Quinn could start one of the last few games.

Say, how about the Nebraska Cornhuskers? Are they going to get a mention in your blog, Ron?

Why not have a full page story on David Beckham?

I was so happy on Draft Day when the Browns traded to get Quinn. Now, this holdout crap has me turning on him faster than a FOX series is cancelled. These agents are just KILLING their players….Tom Condon, in particular. Brady wanted to play for the Browns—and you're holding out for more, more, more money…for a kid who's never played a down and has a reputation for inaccuracy?? Don't do to Quinn what you did to Couch, Condon. Get the friggin deal done before this kid blows his future and is shipped off to Timbuctoo…where his family will NEVER get to see him play. OKAY? You freakin' moron agents.

It's really no surprise if Quinn holds out a few weeks, considering the somewhat peculiar circumstances of his draft position, and it shouldn't be a surprise that he didn't look so great during his first minicamp. So why does it seem like he is already always being slammed in the ABJ? Have he or his agent snubbed the paper or its reporters?

Earlier this summer it was announced that the Golden Boy pretty much sucks and that he has no chance to play this season. Now we hear that some mysterious NFL "insider" thinks he'll hold out all year then be traded…those judgements seem very premature and borderline weird.

Probably the very same highly credible and mysterious "insider" that told the Beacon Journal that Varejao had received a King Kong-sized offer from Memphis.

That ultra-gay photoshoot with Men's Fitness was not something that would have received the Dick Butkus Stamp of Approval. I hope Anderson amazingly becomes a star.

Whoops. I meant Men's Health. Doesn't matter, it was awful no matter what magazine it was. Except maybe Blueboy, I would suppose.
