An inside look at ESPN

in ESPN

Le Anne Schreiber is the new public editor for ESPN and her columns appear on ESPN.com. Her first real behind the scenes look at the network is very interesting and sheds some light on the thinking that goes on between SportsCenter and the actual sports that ESPN holds the rights to. Take a look.

I think the producers there have been so beaten up, that they actually now believe their own big bags of baloney. Like O.J. actually believing he didn't do it.

The producers don't have marching orders? Please. Who are they kidding? I mean, other than themselves.

When can we look forward to reading your Balanced Ledger Deportes? Or maybe the Coors Six-Pack of Terry Pluto's Top Sins of the Week?

How much does ESPN pay the Beacon to keep those fascinating mentions coming? Is Windhorst your bagman?

By the way, precisely what is an "ESPN ombudsman?" Intriguing job title. I've owed a student loan for nearly 30 years, is she the person with whom I'll need to discuss my repayment options?

Hey, maybe SportsCenter will begin a new segment entitled, "The Ombudsman Hot Seat, hosted by Brian Windhorst." The old Budweiser Hot Seat just doesn't have the attitude it used to have.

You must have missed those Ombuds McKenzie commercials back in the 80s, Alan. What a dog!

I'd like to see Ombudsman "Ombuds" McKenzie brought back as the Cavs mascot. He brought a ton of women to the games, it made Richfield a much better place. Now compare and contrast Ombuds with that flea-infested Moondog. Not a woman to be found anywhere near that animal. Either Moondog is butt-ugly, or, worst-case scenario, he's gay.

Speaking of which, I can't wait until ESPN starts to really target the gay market and Disney invests in the Logo TV channel. The readers look forward to those future Logo links, Ron.
