I'm almost wondering if this is like Howard Stern moving from K-Rock/syndication to Sirius. Oprah may be done with the syndicated show, but there's nothing stopping her from doing her show on OWN, maybe 2-3 times a week and with significantly more vacation time. She'll still be there, but maybe a bit more out-of-sight/out-of-mind for some people. It'll be interesting to see how many cable systems add Discovery Health/OWN and what its ratings do between now and then. Look at the spike Howard gave to Sirius.

Hey Rich, long time.

As I deal with video alot, I think this was pretty good and packed with info. I would like to suggest, from the scene designers perspective, two simple 'adjustments'. 1) Wear darker shirts so your face is more prominant. 2) Turn down the brightness of the TV / monitor (Ole Soupy) so it too doesn't steal focus from your face. Trust the image in the camera viewfinder, and ...

3) (I know I said 2 but this one is harder) paint the wall behind your head a medium grey or other (darker than skin tone) shade, or cover it with kraft paper, or ... whatever, hide the white. Youre face &/or the products want to be the brightest things in the frame. These steps will allow your face and the products to 'Pop' and give you an instantly better product. A simple clip light (spun aluminum cheapo from TrueValue) cliped on the tripod with a 25 to 60w CFL might help if the TV/monitor looks bad adjusted low. Tracing paper attached with clothes pins for diffusion if you have trouble with reflections &/or glare. IMHO

Gary

PS: I wish I had that much of my hair left!

I cannot tell you how much your show has touched my life. I always looked foward to your weekly episode and I am a little confused as to when you guys will be back on for the 5th season...Is it 2010? I have read so many negative "digs" on the Rollof family but I feel they are a wonderful family who have had their own ups and downs..and God is the only one to judge..

The season-ending episode for season 3 was fantastic! I had to watch it twice before I could go to bed. My only complaint was they could have had Don rush to Abigail Spencer's arms for consolation and a little romp! I hope they bring her back next season even though she's on another show too. Hey! If Jane can do it so can Abigail! I love this show, really really love it! I wish it were on HBO or Showtime so they could be a little edgier yet but as long as they keep renewing it, I'll be watching!

I can remember Adam Sandler & Denis Leary too ... that was a good, non-music show on MTV. Probably one of my all-time favorite game shows.
Really bummed out to hear about his passing.

I stopped watching Jeopardy! for a bit 20 years ago because it was on at the same time as Remote Control (and we didn't have a VCR). And you're right about the show declining when Kari Wurher left.

The finale episode was good but half of the season was dull.
It just was not as entertaining as the other seasons.
Also, draper is getting dull and him screwing every hole he can find is boring me

I don't think the URL for the page is different. It's http://www.ohio.com/entertainment/heldenfels
But there's a new pic, some tweaking of the organization (and a little more of that coming) and my bio from the blog is now on Ohio.com, too.
As far as I know, the Gleason "Gigot" is not on an authorized home-video release; you can find "The Wool Cap," a newer version of "Gigot" with William H. Macy starring.

"But at least Betty has a clearer idea of what she wants..."

I don't think Betty knows what she wants. She barely knows Frances and her decision to end the marriage, I think, is symptomatic of poor impulse control following the JFK assassination. I do agree with Adkins that she is an ice cold parent. As a woman, I've tried to have more empathy towards her, but can't. This, in my opinion, has something to do with January Jones under performance in the role. She has the look, but not the chops.

Both "Sue Thomas" and "Doc" are now on Gospel Music Channel and doing good numbers. One of the "Thomas" folks sent me this schedule: 'Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye' airs M-Thu at 4 & 8pm and Fri at 4pm; 'Doc' airs M-F at 5pm. And 'Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye' is also airing on the American Life Network M-F at 6pm.

Also, "Sue Thomas" has gone to DVD. The word on that:

The DVDs are not in stores - they will be available online at www.suethomasdvd.com. This first set of DVDs has the first 11 episodes of Season One (episodes 101-112 including the 2 hour movie that launched the series) plus bonus footage of star Deanne Bray (currently a new regular hero on NBC's 'Heroes') and commentary from co-creator Dave Alan Johnson. And it’s in widescreen! Price is $19.99 plus $5.95 shipping.

Some time ago in one of your columns, you indicated that reruns of Sue Thomas Private Eye were going to come back, but I've never been able to find it. Did they really put it back on..the animal channel??

Didn't understand why Don didn't stay at home while Betty's in Nevada for at least 6 weeks.

Best moment:
Roger: Peggy will you get me some coffee
Peggy: No

I want to support SNL, but they need to stop with the celebrity immitations--Nick Cage was not even close. I think they think 80% of the funny should come just from how the immitator looks like the celebrity.

And if you happened to DVR Family Guy presents:Seth and Alex--delete it. It seems that racist and handicap jokes are more acceptable in cartoon forrm after all.

Betty's ice cold parenting makes one really feel sad for the children. Leaving them at home for six weeks after announcing that their Dad was no longer going to be living at home- a time when they would need extra comfort and security. While it depicts the era, it is really heartbreaking to see. Although they would probably get more affection from the housekeeper who seems to be kinder to the kids. I am glad the "gang" is back again. Can't wait until the next season.

I cannot remember for the life of me a single episode of television that I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed that season finale. I was happy one second and heartbroken the next. (Don and the kids - I cried everytime because I know he might not be the best husband, but there isn't a doubt he loves those children.)

Everyone brought their A-game last night. I need to stop now, but I really, really enjoyed the episode, good, bad, and ugly.
