Briefly Noted

Because of the short week, I am up against a couple of deadlines. But later I hope to talk at some length about the "Jon & Kate" situation, and especially about all the talk about staying together for the children and about Kate's having either a profound lack of self-awareness or just an overpowering sense of entitlement. Also, some longer notes on "Mental," premiering tonight, which in brief is pretty awful; I have nothing against knockoffs of existing ideas if the knockoffs are reasonably well executed (that is, I like both "House" and "Lie to Me") but this thing is torpid.
