This will be the fourth, with another casting change from the previous films. First, the announcement:
Burbank, CA (August 3, 2009) – Francia Raisa (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”) and Brendan Fehr (“Samurai Girl,” “Roswell”) have signed to star in the ABC Family and MGM Television original production “The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice.” The two-hour original movie will begin principal photography this month in Montreal, Canada, and is set to premiere on ABC Family in spring 2010. “The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice” marks the fourth installment of the successful franchise produced by MGM Television.
In "The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice," Francia Raisa reprises her role as Alexandra “Alex” Delgado ("The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream"), whose figure skating career came to an abrupt halt after her partner (on and off the ice) became injured. As their love affair cooled, a heart-broken Alex stopped competing and turned to teaching. Enter James Van Behr (Brendan Fehr), the smoldering bad boy of speed skating, who has had fiery Alex in his sights as a skating partner ever since he was banned from speed skating. There aren’t many girls who say no to James – Alex may well be the first. However, James pushes her buttons, challenging her like no one else – and her fighting spirit returns. She agrees to partner, and they begin a grueling practice regimen fueled (and occasionally derailed) by their own tempestuous relationship that heats up as they get closer to competition. But will their passion destroy Alex’s chance to bring home the gold again?
The movie is directed by Stephen Herek (“Picture This!,” “Rock Star,” “Mr. Holland’s Opus”) and is written by Holly Brix. It will be executive produced by the MGM team of Craig Roessler, Sara Berrisford and Hudson Hickman.
Now, the recap. The original "The Cutting Edge" (1992) starred Moira Kelly as a figure skater teamed with a brash hockey player (D.B. Sweeney). It's pictured above. "The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold" (2006) starred Christie Carlson Romano as the daughter of Kelly & Sweeney. (I know, Romano was in her twenties, so the math doesn't work. This is the movies.), teamed with Ross Thomas. "The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream" focused on Matt Lanter, as a figure skater who gets a hockey-player partner (Francia Raisa); Romano also appeared in it. And now, the new one.

ABC Family: make it stop!!
I love all the cheesy goodness of the original one, but really – a fourth one??
LOVED the first one. Has gone down hill since then. No need for any more.
I hated the first loved the next two.. havent seen the forth..
loved Zach and Alex why do they have to brake up??
I liked the 3rd movie but why did the sequence francia Flashlight with matt? many vows of love in the end and then arrange another? since it will make the room then it should be with matt and raisa or other stakeholders. Boring …
