"Grey's Anatomy": The Wheels on the Bus …

GA

… have fallen off again. More comments about tonight's episode, after the jump.

I had this idea for a post I never got around to finishing, looking at last week's "Grey's" and "CSI" and even, in a limited way, at "The Office" and the way each dealt with love, longing and loss. And last week's "Grey's" was very good in most respects. The one in which it was not was also the one that had people talking: the departure of Dr. Hahn (Brooke Smith) at episode's end.

In what was otherwise a sure-handed piece of work, the Hahn departure felt hasty and shoehorned, an attempt to move Hahn out as quickly as possible, when the show under other circumstances might have drawn out Hahn's unhappiness over Izzie's heart theft and the collapse of Hahn's relationship with Callie. But it was rushed, and so be it. The show could then go back to being as good as it was in other parts of last week's show.

Only it most decidedly did not get back to being good. What it got back to, was being stupid. The new heart surgeon. The hottie intern who's also an old friend of Meredith. The way-overextended interns-practicing story. The haunting of Izzie. Callie's breakdown in the OR. The show was stacked with good character actors, including Ed Lauter and August Schellenberg, and Mary McDonnell can do good work, but overall the episode was a mess that recalled "Grey's" at its worst.

Now, it could just be that this is a week for off episodes, since "Friday Night Lights" also had a relatively weak offering. (More about that in another post.) And I don't forget Dick Wolf's contention that any given series over the course of a season is about one-third good, one-third bad and one-third in-between, so "Grey's" may just have been due for a bad one. But this bad? Eek. Maybe there is karmic payback for Hahn's ouster.

What about you other "Grey's" watchers? Agree? Disagree?

Wow…… have to say with this ep Grey's has "jumped the shark". It was haphazard at best…… and was it just me or were the mumbletons guest starring this ep in the roles of Cristina, Mer and Der?

And if it wasn't bothersome enough to watch the interns play bad doctor……but they are actually expecting us to stomache Izzy and Dead Denny….who apparently is not dead? So I am guessing in a few eps we are going to find out the Izzy has a brain tumor……whatever.

Blah Blah Blah

I miss Erica!!!!!!

Sex with a dead guy can replace a maybe lesbian storyline? What does that say about the show? And Erica Hahn is cold and bitchy, so we replace her with someone struggling with Asperger's? She's going to get along so much better with her co-workers than Hahn? There was so much more to the Hahn character that we'll never get to see. Did she call UNOS, why/whynot, how can she work with Izzie, how can she work with the chief? Beyond all those questions you also had the dynamic with the Callie relationship and interesting ineractions with Sloan. Change the storyline if need be, but not in that lame way.

I miss Erica too.

Yeah, still sad about the way they got rid of Brooke Smith and Erica Hahn… Bad move, abc, bad move.

I have to agree that it sounds as if GA has indeed jumped the shark. I didnt watch it, but I have read recaps and maybe will catch some scenes on youtube. But really….sex with a dead dude is okay….but two *real* woman in love is not okay? Thats just….well makes me worried. I miss Erica.

As I said, I am hoping that this was an aberration and that the shark will remain unjumped. But the more I think about the episode, the more depressed I get — because we're clearly going to see more of the awful new characters, and because Denny was in the promo for next week — not to mention that whole appendix thing. Waaaaaaaaaa.

Yeah. I agree. Karma is a bitch. And I hope Karma has PMS when it comes to the case of Grey's Anatomy. Man, I loved Hahn from the first second I saw her and I just can't understand that she's gone. The ousting: Case of poor judgement if there ever was one.

Yes, there is. And this was it!

I hope they are going to pay even more in the weeks to come, until ABC's suits finally realize that getting Hahn back on the show wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. ^^

you know what since they kicked erica off it has been terrible it like they are just writing to be writing and they don't what to do about it…I would love to see Callie/Hahn together again…

I think since Hahn was kick off the all new drama in GA sucks! I believe the most atractive history was Erica and Callie because for they and us it's all new and we want to be part of that.

I don't like at all the history of Izzie and Denny, yes they are a perfect couple, but the most boring too. The same thing again, but now, he is dead.

Not good move ABC, a resident having sex with a dead man is not best then the gay relationship. I hope they do something to get better the drama.
I always going to be a fan from grey's but, without the exciting to see what's going on with Callica! We want to see Callica again, as demands! :(
