Michael Phelps was pretty well doomed as host of the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live because he had to follow the opening, with Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton and the much-hoped-for appearance by Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Good, good bit. Educational, too; who knew there was such a word as "flurge"? Even if Phelps had been as good a host as Peyton Manning, which he wasn't, he would have had a hard time measuring up to the opener. And even if you discount Phelps, the show wasn't that great.

Funniest scene in recent memory. The show will be hard-pressed to top that one all season long. Fey and Poehler need to mold their next film together around these characters. They are fall-on-the-floor hilarious. So glad Tina returned for this show-stopper.
And far funnier than "Baby Mama."
