Norman Whitfield, R.I.P.

Posted September 17th, 2008 by Rich Heldenfels

That's "Ball of Confusion," produced and co-written by Whitfield, who has passed away. Whitfield was key to the Temptations' success, with credits on "I'm Losing You," "You're My Everything," "I Wish It Would Rain" "and Just My Imagination" as well as the cornerstones of the Tempts' social-relevance period: "Ball of Confusion," "Cloud Nine," "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." Nor should we forget the sublime "Car Wash" soundtrack. The title tune is good enough, but I prefer "I Wanna Get Next to You." Here's the movie clip:

And can't leave without a little "Just My Imagination."
